Safety assessment, appropriate testing and regulatory compliance form an important part of how we develop and supply our skincare and aesthetic technology.
We believe customers and clinics should be able to understand the standards behind the products they use, with clear information about safety assessment, testing and regulatory documentation.
Our approach
Safety Built Into Product Development
Product performance matters, but it must be supported by appropriate safety assessment, testing and regulatory documentation.
Pure Tone Aesthetics works with established manufacturers, specialist laboratories and independent safety professionals as part of the development and supply of our products.
For our cosmetic skincare products, this includes formal safety assessment and supporting regulatory documentation before products are placed on the UK market.
Our current documented cosmetic formulations have undergone a Cosmetic Product Safety Assessment, supported by microbiological testing, ISO 11930 challenge testing, stability assessment and detailed ingredient and toxicological review.
Independent safety assessment
Cosmetic Product Safety Reports
Our cosmetic skincare formulations are independently assessed for safety in accordance with the regulatory requirements applying to cosmetic products.
A Cosmetic Product Safety Report, commonly known as a CPSR, is a formal safety assessment carried out by a suitably qualified cosmetic safety assessor.
The assessment reviews the complete formulation and considers areas including ingredient safety, toxicological information, anticipated consumer exposure, microbiological quality, product stability and normal or reasonably foreseeable use.
Our current documented skincare formulations, including the Foaming Facial Cleansing Gel, Polynucleotide Serum, Polynucleotide Moisturising Cream and Conductor & Gliding Gel, have been independently assessed in accordance with the UK Cosmetics Regulation and Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
The purpose of the assessment is to determine whether the finished cosmetic product is considered safe under normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of use.

Microbiological Quality
Microbiological assessment helps confirm that cosmetic products meet appropriate standards for bacteria, yeast and mould and that their microbiological safety has been appropriately considered.
ISO 11930 Challenge Testing
Our currently documented skincare formulations, including the Foaming Facial Cleansing Gel, Polynucleotide Serum, Polynucleotide Moisturising Cream and Conductor & Gliding Gel, have passed ISO 11930 microbiological challenge testing.
This testing assesses the effectiveness of a cosmetic product's antimicrobial protection system.
Stability Testing
Stability testing is used to assess how a formulation behaves over time and when exposed to different controlled storage conditions and temperatures.
Ingredient Safety Review
The safety assessment considers the toxicological profile of individual ingredients together with their concentration, consumer exposure and intended use within the finished formulation.
Stability testing
Testing Under Controlled Conditions
Our currently documented skincare formulations have undergone stability testing for three months at 45°C, 25°C and 4°C, together with temperature cycling between -5°C and 50°C.
This testing is used alongside product specifications and other supporting information to assess whether each formulation remains stable under normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of use.
Based on the available stability data, the Foaming Facial Cleansing Gel, Polynucleotide Serum, Polynucleotide Moisturising Cream and Conductor & Gliding Gel have each been assigned a 36-month shelf life.

UK Cosmetic Product Compliance
Our skincare products are supported by the documentation required for cosmetic products supplied within the markets in which they are sold.
For cosmetic skincare supplied in Great Britain, relevant product documentation is maintained in accordance with the applicable UK cosmetics regulatory framework.
This includes the information required within the product's regulatory documentation, together with its Cosmetic Product Safety Report and supporting formulation, testing and safety information where applicable.
Product information and ingredient details are also maintained so that the formulation, intended use and relevant safety information can be appropriately documented.

What Is Considered?
A cosmetic safety assessment considers several different aspects of the finished product rather than relying on any single test.
The Formulation
Ingredients, concentrations, impurities and relevant toxicological information are considered as part of the safety assessment.
How It Is Used
The intended application, frequency of use and anticipated level of consumer exposure are taken into account.
Product Stability
Microbiological quality, stability and foreseeable storage and use conditions form part of the wider product safety review.

Professional aesthetic systems are supplied with appropriate manufacturer information, operating instructions, technical specifications and safety guidance relevant to the individual device.
Because cosmetic skincare and aesthetic equipment fall under different regulatory frameworks, we keep their compliance and technical documentation separate and apply the requirements appropriate to each individual product.
Clinics purchasing professional equipment from Pure Tone Aesthetics also receive product training and ongoing technical and clinical support as part of our wider approach to responsible product supply.

We believe safety and compliance information should be accurate, specific and easy to understand.
Where relevant, individual Pure Tone Aesthetics product pages include information about product testing, ingredients, safety assessment and appropriate precautions.
We avoid using broad certification claims where a more precise description is appropriate. For example, a Cosmetic Product Safety Report is an independent safety assessment and regulatory document rather than a generic product certification.
