Best HIFU Machines for Clinics Choosing the Right Platform
A HIFU machine can look impressive on a specification sheet and still be the wrong machine for the way your clinic actually works.
The useful comparison is not simply which system has the most cartridges or the newest terminology. It is how the handpieces deliver energy, which areas you intend to treat, how much facial precision or body-treatment flexibility you need, the likely running costs and the support available once the machine reaches your clinic.
This guide compares Neon 7D Pro™, Inofus™ and Storming™ according to those practical differences.
Start with the clinic
There Is No Single “Best” HIFU Machine for Every Clinic
A useful buying decision starts with what you intend to treat rather than with which machine has the longest specification list.
If most of your demand is for facial lifting, jawline definition and neck treatments, your priorities may be very different from a clinic that wants to combine facial work with larger body-contouring areas.
Likewise, a clinic wanting several different delivery methods for precise facial work may value additional handpieces. Another clinic may prefer a simpler system built around one efficient line-shot workflow.
That distinction is what separates the three systems in Pure Tone's professional range.
Neon 7D Pro™
The broadest platform in the range, combining 7D line-shot, 3D line-shot and Vmax single-point treatment options, with additional specialist handpieces available.
Inofus™
A flexible face-and-body system combining a Continuous Working Mode Line Shot handpiece with a separate One Shot handpiece for more targeted facial and neck work.
Storming™
A more focused CWM Line Shot system for clinics that want professional face and body HIFU without additional handpiece formats they may not need.
The Practical Difference
More handpieces create more treatment options, but only add value if those treatment options fit your patient demand, practitioner workflow and treatment menu.
The technology
How Professional HIFU Works
HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to create controlled thermal treatment points at selected depths beneath the skin surface.
Unlike technologies that primarily heat tissue from the surface, High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound concentrates acoustic energy at a defined focal depth.
The resulting thermal response is used within aesthetic treatment protocols to stimulate tissue contraction and subsequent collagen remodelling. This is why HIFU is primarily associated with progressive lifting, tightening and contour improvement rather than an immediate surface-resurfacing effect.
For facial treatments, commonly selected depths allow practitioners to work at different levels within the dermis and deeper supporting tissue. Deeper cartridges can also extend HIFU into selected body contouring protocols, depending on the system and treatment area.
Evidence before marketing
What Does the Evidence Actually Tell Us About HIFU?
Independent research supports focused ultrasound as a legitimate non-invasive treatment category for skin tightening and selected body contouring applications — but that does not mean every HIFU machine or every treatment protocol produces identical results.
Skin Tightening
Systematic reviews of microfocused and focused ultrasound report measurable improvement in mild-to-moderate facial skin laxity, particularly around the lower face, neck and brow.
Results Develop Gradually
HIFU works through a biological remodelling response. Improvement therefore develops over the weeks and months following treatment rather than behaving like an instant mechanical lift.
Device & Protocol Matter
Published studies use different machines, energies, treatment depths and protocols. Research into the HIFU category should not be presented as independent clinical validation of every individual commercial device.
This distinction matters when clinics assess product claims. A machine should be judged on its treatment architecture, consistency, training, support and suitability for the intended patient population — not simply because research exists for HIFU as a category.
Independent Evidence Note
For further professional reading, relevant peer-reviewed systematic reviews include A Systematic Review of the Efficacy of Microfocused Ultrasound for Facial Skin Tightening (PubMed PMID 36674277) and the 2025 review High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound in Skin Tightening and Body Contouring (PubMed PMID 40184185).
Treatment planning
Do More HIFU Treatment Depths Automatically Mean Better Results?
Not necessarily. More depths create more treatment flexibility, but depth needs to correspond to anatomy, treatment area and clinical objective.
| Typical Depth | Common Role in HIFU Treatment Planning |
|---|---|
| 1.5 mm | More superficial treatment level used within selected facial protocols. |
| 2.0 mm | An additional facial depth available on certain systems for more graduated treatment planning. |
| 3.0 mm | Commonly used for deeper dermal treatment and collagen-focused facial protocols. |
| 4.5 mm | Frequently used where treatment is intended to reach deeper facial supporting tissue. |
| 7.0 mm and deeper | Primarily associated with selected body treatment and contouring protocols rather than routine facial treatment. |

These figures describe focal depth rather than guaranteeing that one specific anatomical layer will be reached in every patient. Tissue thickness varies considerably by individual and by treatment area, which is why training and patient assessment remain important.
A longer cartridge list is therefore useful only when the practitioner has a genuine reason to use those additional depths.
Side by side
Neon 7D Pro vs Inofus vs Storming HIFU

Important: shot counts between different handpiece formats should not be treated as directly interchangeable. A single point, a line and a multi-point delivery method describe different workflows. Cartridge capacity is useful commercial information, but it needs to be considered alongside the treatment protocol and average usage per patient.
1 · Broadest treatment architecture
Neon 7D Pro HIFU™
Neon sits at the top of the range because it gives the practitioner more ways of delivering HIFU, not simply because the machine is positioned as the premium option.
Its main distinction is the combination of 7D HIFU, 3D HIFU and Vmax treatment formats. That creates more flexibility when moving between broader line-based treatment and precise single-point facial work.
The Vmax handpiece is particularly relevant to smaller facial areas, while the different line-shot formats allow treatment planning to be adapted across broader facial and body areas.
Optional body and specialist handpieces extend the platform further. That can make Neon particularly useful to clinics that want HIFU to occupy a significant role within the treatment menu rather than being one occasional service among many.
The other side of that decision is equally important: if a clinic only intends to perform relatively straightforward face and neck protocols, some of that additional capability may never be used. More versatility has commercial value only when the clinic has a treatment pathway for it.
2 · Flexible face & body HIFU
Inofus HIFU™
Inofus occupies an important middle position in the range because it offers two genuinely different treatment delivery options without the broader handpiece architecture of Neon.
The Continuous Working Mode Line Shot handpiece is designed to deliver repeated HIFU lines efficiently, making it useful across larger treatment areas.
Alongside it, the separate One Shot handpiece provides a more targeted method of delivering energy across areas such as the face and neck.
Its Line Shot cartridge range extends from 1.5 mm through to 13 mm, while the One Shot handpiece uses dedicated 3.0 mm and 4.5 mm cartridges.
That makes Inofus particularly relevant to clinics expecting a genuine mix of facial and body work but which do not necessarily need every additional treatment format available on Neon.
It is therefore better thought of as an all-round HIFU platform than simply a machine sitting between a premium and entry-level model.
3 · Focused and straightforward
Storming HIFU™
Storming strips the platform back to the core Continuous Working Mode Line Shot approach.
Its available Line Shot cartridges cover 1.5 mm, 3.0 mm, 4.5 mm, 7.0 mm and 13.0 mm, allowing the system to be used across suitable face, neck and body protocols.
The standard package focuses on the commonly used 3.0 mm and 4.5 mm cartridges, with other depths available separately.
What Storming does not provide is the additional One Shot, Vmax or alternative line-delivery handpieces found higher in the range.
That should not automatically be viewed as a disadvantage. If a clinic plans to build a clearly defined HIFU service around line-based facial and body treatments, additional handpieces may add complexity without adding meaningful patient demand.
Storming therefore makes most sense when the requirement is a focused HIFU platform that is straightforward to integrate into an existing treatment menu.
What the terminology actually means
Line Shot, One Shot, Vmax, 3D and 7D HIFU
The names are useful only when they help explain how treatment is delivered.
Line Shot
Delivers multiple focal treatment points along a line. This is useful for covering larger treatment areas efficiently and forms the core workflow of all three Pure Tone systems.
One Shot / Vmax
Single-point delivery gives the practitioner a different level of control when treating smaller or more targeted areas. Inofus provides One Shot, while Neon includes its Vmax treatment format.
3D / 7D
These describe different multi-line treatment formats on Neon. They expand workflow and treatment flexibility but should not be interpreted as an independent grading scale where a higher number automatically guarantees a better clinical result.
Beyond the purchase price
How to Think About HIFU Commercially
A credible return-on-investment calculation starts with your actual clinic numbers, not an impressive annual revenue headline.
The previous version of this guide used an illustrative annual revenue calculation. We think there is a more useful way for a clinic to assess the opportunity.
Start with the number of HIFU consultations you already receive — or can realistically generate — then calculate likely treatment conversion, average treatment value, practitioner time, cartridge usage, equipment finance and your other operating costs.
The relevant question is not how much revenue a clinic could theoretically generate if the diary were full every day. It is how quickly the machine is likely to become productive within your own patient base.
- What is the realistic average treatment price in your area?
- How many suitable HIFU consultations do you currently receive?
- What proportion of those consultations are likely to convert?
- Will most treatments be face, neck, body or a mixture?
- How many shots or lines does your normal treatment protocol use?
- What does a replacement cartridge cost?
- How much practitioner and room time does each treatment require?
- What is the monthly finance or equipment cost?
- Will additional handpieces create treatments patients will actually buy?
- How much marketing will be required to build initial demand?
Do Not Compare Cartridge Numbers in Isolation
Neon, Inofus and Storming publish different cartridge capacities, but the treatment formats are not directly identical. The useful figure is the approximate cost per treatment using the protocol you expect to perform most often.

Which HIFU Machine Fits Your Clinic?
The choice becomes much easier once you define the treatment pathway first.
Choose Neon 7D Pro if...
You want HIFU to be a major treatment category and expect to make use of several different facial, line-shot, targeted and potentially specialist treatment formats.
Choose Inofus if...
You want a strong face-and-body platform and see practical value in having both an efficient CWM Line Shot handpiece and a separate One Shot option.
Choose Storming if...
You want a straightforward professional HIFU system built around a single Line Shot workflow, without paying for treatment formats your clinic is unlikely to use.
Do Not Choose Yet if...
You are still unsure whether your patients actually need HIFU rather than RF, RF Microneedling or another treatment category. Decide the clinical gap first and the machine second.
The machine is only part of the decision

Good HIFU Results Depend on More Than the Machine
Depth selection, treatment planning, patient suitability and technique all matter.
Pure Tone HIFU systems are supplied with 1-to-1 CPD-certified nurse-led training, designed to cover practical machine use alongside consultation and treatment planning.
Our systems are supported by ongoing clinical guidance, with access to the nurse who provides your training, together with technical support after installation.
We also personally deliver and set up professional systems so the machine can be checked and commissioned at the clinic rather than leaving the practitioner to unpack and configure unfamiliar equipment alone.
That support becomes particularly important with systems offering several handpieces and treatment depths. Having more options is useful only when practitioners understand why and when to use them.

HIFU Machine Questions, Answered
What is the best HIFU machine for an aesthetics clinic?
There is no single machine that is best for every clinic. Neon 7D Pro provides the broadest treatment architecture, Inofus combines Line Shot and One Shot treatment for flexible face and body work, while Storming provides a more focused Line Shot platform. The right choice depends on the treatments your patients require and which capabilities you will actually use.
What is the difference between Neon 7D Pro and Inofus?
Neon 7D Pro combines several HIFU delivery formats, including 7D, 3D and Vmax, with additional specialist handpieces available. Inofus uses a CWM Line Shot handpiece alongside a separate One Shot handpiece. Neon therefore provides the wider treatment architecture, while Inofus is a strong all-round face-and-body platform with two complementary treatment formats.
What is the difference between Inofus and Storming HIFU?
Both use Continuous Working Mode Line Shot technology. Inofus also includes a separate One Shot handpiece for more targeted facial and neck treatment. Storming centres the workflow around Line Shot alone, making it a more streamlined option for clinics that do not require the additional treatment format.
Is 7D HIFU automatically better than other HIFU?
Not simply because it is called 7D. The value of Neon 7D Pro lies in the wider range of treatment delivery options and focal depths available to the practitioner. Results still depend on patient selection, treatment parameters, technique and the suitability of the chosen protocol.
What does CWM HIFU mean?
CWM stands for Continuous Working Mode. On Inofus and Storming, the Line Shot handpiece is designed to deliver repeated HIFU lines efficiently, which can help practitioners cover larger treatment areas within a practical clinic workflow.
Which HIFU machine is best for face and body treatments?
All three systems can support suitable face and body protocols. Neon provides the widest choice of delivery formats and optional handpieces, while Inofus combines Line Shot and One Shot treatment with Line cartridges extending to deeper body-treatment depths. Storming also offers Line Shot cartridges for facial and body protocols but with a simpler handpiece configuration.
Do more HIFU cartridge depths mean better results?
No. Additional depths provide more treatment-planning flexibility, but the selected depth must be appropriate for the treatment area and the patient's anatomy. A clinic gains little from additional cartridges if they are not relevant to the treatments it intends to perform.
How should clinics compare HIFU cartridge life?
Look beyond the headline shot count. Different systems use different handpiece formats, and a line shot should not necessarily be compared directly with a single-point shot. Estimate the number of treatments using the actual protocol you expect to perform and calculate the replacement-cartridge cost per treatment.
Does HIFU really have no downtime?
It is more accurate to describe HIFU as generally having minimal visible downtime rather than promising none at all. Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or altered sensation can occur depending on the treatment area, energy settings and individual response.
Does HIFU replace a surgical facelift?
No. HIFU is a non-surgical treatment intended to improve selected degrees of skin laxity and contour. It cannot reproduce the degree of tissue repositioning achievable with surgery, and patients with more significant laxity may require a different treatment approach.
Is professional training important for HIFU?
Yes. Treatment depth, energy, shot placement, anatomy, contraindications and patient selection all influence treatment safety and outcome. A professional HIFU system should therefore be supported by appropriate practical and clinical training rather than being treated as a plug-and-play device.
What training is included with Pure Tone HIFU machines?
Pure Tone professional HIFU systems include 1-to-1 CPD-certified, nurse-led practical training together with delivery and setup and ongoing clinical and technical support.

Buy the Treatment Platform Your Clinic Will Actually Use
The strongest HIFU purchase is not necessarily the machine with the longest specification sheet.
Neon 7D Pro makes sense when the breadth of its treatment architecture will genuinely be used.
Inofus provides a particularly useful middle ground for clinics wanting efficient Line Shot treatment alongside a separate targeted facial handpiece.
Storming provides a simpler route where a well-defined Line Shot HIFU service is what the clinic actually needs.
The important question is therefore not simply “Which HIFU machine is best?” It is which machine fits the patients you treat, the services you want to build and the way your practitioners work.
